- Accurate constant dispensing for robotic applications
- The pump station handles the acceleration/deceleration of the robot
- No knowledge of adhesive technology required
- Can be used with KUKA robots
Due to the robot's trapezoidal speed/acceleration profile, the fixed adhesive supply results in more adhesive in some places and less in others due to the constantly changing (accelerating/decelerating) speed profile, so these ramps must be followed by the pump for consistent dispensing. X-Gear's servo motor is provided by a 7th axis option mounted in the robot's control box. With this added robot shaft, the PLC can be omitted from the system, as the additional axes can be factory installed in the controller. This way, by having the robot handle the X-Gear servo motor, its speed can be proportional to the other robot axes, thus managing acceleration/deceleration and reducing the response time for glue volume changes.
It has a big role to play in reducing the reaction time, and also the volume:
The X-Gear on axis 3, because it does not feed the material to the glue head via a very long hose (up to 7 m), but connects the pump station to the glue head via the shortest hose (1.2 m). We can feed the X-Gear with a pump driven melting machine, so that pump changes are not detected in the system, due to the constant discharge created by the gear pump.
With X-Gear, everything is controlled by the robot via a specially designed printed circuit board. The signals from the gluing device and the pump station are connected to the card and the program from IASG Ltd. is copied to the robot controller. After that, you just have to set the gluing start/end signal in the program and the pumping station will follow the robot's speed change.
